DRUG WAR
The War on Drugs isn’t worth a dime
But thousands of citizens are doing time
Remember how once prohibition was tried
It never worked, but thousands died
It’s really sad, though not a mystery
That nobody learns from their country's history
It’s also claimed, in many quarters
The Government itself are major importers
Drugs are blamed for society’s ills
So the Government can pass more repressive bills
But crime isn’t caused by using drugs
It’s the illegality that brings the thugs
While tobacco kills half a million a year
The Government turns a deafened ear
And thousand of deaths are caused by drink
Legal because there’s a business link
Throw thousands in jail, so the public is calmed
In most of the cases, no one was harmed
Draconian sentences, the norm it seems
Like are doled out by dictatorial regimes
Now the prison industry is starting to bloom
They keep on building to make more room
What with all the staff and greedy lawyers
The justice system is a major employer
Freedom and liberty are now just fiction
The Government lies just to get a conviction
The trial results are more than suspicious
The juries following the DA’s wishes
The police, the lawyers, the D.E.A
Without this war they’d get no pay
The guards, the judges, the construction crews
All use the money these laws infuse
Protecting the public, an excuse so feeble
In truth it’s a war against the people
