LIBERTY

People follow where governments lead them
Believing America’s the Land of Freedom
But study each and every sentence
Of the Declaration of Independence
Most of those complaints against George the third
For the second time have now occurred
The Founding Fathers would surely cry
To see their vision fade and die
The only tax used to be on tea
Now for everything you pay a fee
More and more, as every day passes
Those “Hordes of Officers” harass the masses
The Statue of Liberty is now passé
Immigrants not allowed to stay
Freedom of travel?...Can’t move a yard
Unless you are carrying your ID card
The right to privacy? Not any more
Just watch the swat team smash your door
Have to be careful, whatever you say
And seizure of property every day
People indefinitely held in jail
In freedom’s coffin, another nail
Those freedoms diminish under color of law
Like Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty Four.”
More people in prison than all other lands
Hamilton would be wringing his hands
And Paine will be turning in his grave
To see this government’s religious wave
The worst part of this whole affair
The American public doesn’t care
By the time they realize what will be their fate
They’ll find they’ve left it much too late
Jefferson of course would have the solution
He’d call for another revolution
