NEWSLETTER 13...CHANGE OF PLANS

Hello there my dear friends. Peace finally reigns in our house as all the guests have departed. Things didn’t go exactly as planned in my last newsletter but the two couples did in fact get married and I’ll bring you up to date as to what occured. After my cousin Susanti travelled up here to meet Bill and they decided to marry here, some of my family wanted of course to come up to the wedding. So, Susanti’s mother, father, sister. two brothers and her sister’s son came up to stay with us. As well as the visitors, I have my disabled mother and the young son of my sister staying with us! To say that our house was overcrowded is a gross understatement. Luckily we had just built a kind of annex with two extra bedrooms and a bathroom. The crowd expected to stay only for a couple of days but then Murphey’s Law kicked in! The local authorities decided that there was a new regulation in place which required ten days notice after the wedding application was submitted. After panicking for a while, I called everyone in the local government who I knew and pleaded with them, the main problem being that Bill’s flight home would have been on the very day that he was to be married and his short, planned honeymoon would have gone down the drain. Finally, the office agreed to allow the wedding in three days so the newlyweds did have a few days together. Bill had one last catastrophe: the airline cancelled his flight and rescheduled for the following day. As they were unable to contact him, he arrived at Surabaya airport with nowhere to go. I called my brother there who picked him up and put him up for the night. He is home now and will return to reside here in May when he will start building a house here.

Now on to Ian. As it was impossible for the large family of HIS betrothed to travel to our house, he elected to travel to them in Jakarta and get married there. He ALSO was on a tight schedule and only had a couple of days honeymoon. He is now back home, applying for a spousal visa for Heny to join him in the US. Ian is hoping shortly to return and settle in Indonesia.

This is the problem when one marries an out of town girl and I really try to hook up our clients with local girls. So at this time, I do not have any reserved slots for March or April so, if you want to find the girl of YOUR dreams, now is a good time to get in touch with me. Until the next time......Yuyun
