Bush claimed America was “Under God.”
While killing and maiming with his high tech tools
He broke his own religion’s rules
Born again to follow God's will
Guess he never read "Thou shalt not kill"
The Christian beliefs, it’s plain to see
Are totally full of hypocrisy
The Taliban also love destruction
And claim of course it’s God's instruction
To the West they’re the enemy of the hour
Would be just as bad with Catholics in power
Israel continues to kill Palestinians
Don't give a damn about world opinions
Strange, in this age of nuclear fission
We’re still in the dark ages with religion
Starting with children, religious instruction
Then used as a reason for death and destruction
The major religions are all the same
Control the masses becomes their aim
Ridiculous rituals they all must follow
If you use your brain, they seem so hollow
The Jews wear hats, the Christians kneel
Or God won’t listen to their appeal
Muslims face Mecca, Catholics touch beads
And if they confess, God forgives their deeds
Some can’t eat pork, with some it’s beef
No meat on Friday is the Catholics’ belief
Then there’s the splinter groups and cults
Where sexual perversion often results
So many systems, followed to the letter
Each claiming their way is so much better
An airliner crashes, two people survive
They always proclaim that God saved their life
Like ostriches’ heads in the sand they hide
Nobody mentions the hundreds that died
You see bumper stickers, “Try prayer it works”
A ridiculous statement that really irks
The whole of Israel prayed for Sharon
He just got worse as time moved on
Then Bush asked America to pray for some miners
They came to the surface in plastic liners
Every year to Mecca the Muslims rush
And hundreds die by getting crushed
Pointing this out is not worth saying
As all the religious will keep on praying
In Indonesia Muslims pray
Not just once, five times a day
But Allah, who they think is master
Rewards them with a daily disaster
People with nothing are the faith’s supporters
And the first to suffer with rising waters
Volcano, earthquake, tsunami and flood
All that praying does them no good
The Pope was the Catholics’ link to their Lord
Arthritis and Parkinsons were his reward
If God was in heaven upon his throne
You’d think he’d take better care of his own
Believers are critical of every science
But always use the latest appliance
When sick they go to the hospital bed
Why don’t they pray to their God instead?
Intelligent people should make the decision
The world would be better without religion
